New Media Summer School - The web of tomorrow is yours

The training activity took place
in Stockholm, Sweden
organised by YEU - Youth for Exchange and Understanding
11th June – 16th June 2012

Aims & objectives

The New Media Summer School is a line of activities to empower young people to contribute to the multi-stakeholder dialogues at the European Dialogue on Internet Governance (EuroDIG), the biggest civil society conference on IG in Europe. The NMSS introduces to the topic and gives a general outlook of the issues on the table and activates participants to become net activists ad speak up on matters that concern young people. An integral part of the NMSS is the participation in the EuroDIG event itself.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The NMSS is a product of the collaboration of several organisations, including AEGEE, FYEG, JEF, YEU and YFJ. Participants are mostly gathered through the national chapters of these organisations and come from all over Europe.

Training methods used & main activities

We used mostly blended learning for the training, combined with a few interviews with an MEP and other external representatives. A focus of this training was to create videos during the EuroDIG, to be published lateron. The participants worked in small groups to generate outlines for the videos and prepare questions and interview situations. They interviewed many of the plenary speakers of EuroDIG.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

I was one of the team members organising the activity. I coordinated the programme and was responsible for the link to the EuroDIG event. I ran several sessions during the NMSS and applied methods of blended learning.

I worked on this training for 6 days as a full time trainer.
