TOY - Trainers Online for Youth
This is a reference for Tobias Glismann
The training aimed to strengthen the training and facilitation skills of youth workers while exploring global issues such as poverty, inequality, and climate change. It addressed the need for creative and participatory methods to engage young people in understanding and acting on global challenges. The activity aligned with the organisation's goals to promote global citizenship education and youth empowerment.
The training brought together youth workers from various European countries, creating a rich intercultural learning environment. The diversity of nationalities and perspectives significantly enhanced the peer-to-peer exchange and reflective practice.
The training employed non-formal, participatory, and experiential learning methodologies. These included storytelling workshops, simulation exercises, group discussions, peer-led sessions, and reflective practices—allowing participants to take leadership roles and apply their learning in practice.
The training strengthened the capacity of youth workers to design and facilitate workshops addressing global issues. Participants developed new tools and approaches, many of which were piloted during the training itself. The success of the training is reflected in continued collaboration and future invitations to contribute to similar projects. Documentation and materials are archived internally by Development Perspectives.
Although officially a participant, I was given multiple opportunities to lead sessions, demonstrate facilitation skills, and contribute to content development. I designed and delivered parts of the program using creative storytelling and interactive methods. I actively supported peer learning, facilitated intercultural dialogue, and helped create a safe and engaging learning atmosphere—demonstrating a trainer-level role within the group.
