Aims & objectives

Aim:
The aim of the training course is to develop and enhance the ability of organisations to
recognize and deal with conflict situations that can arise during the life cycle of European
Voluntary Service (EVS).
The objectives are:
• To explore effective communication with (potential) volunteers, and between hosting
and sending organisations.
• To identify potential conflict situations in EVS and explore how they can be prevented.
• To develop competences to prevent and deal with conflicts as they arise.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

EVS mentors, Ex-EVS volunteers and project co-ordinators and support persons, from Croatia, Georgia, Armenia, Estonia, Russia, Moldova, Slovenia, Italy, Finland and Ireland

Training methods used & main activities

The training as based on Non-formal educational and experimental learning methods. The experience of the participants was the starting point of the activities and we explore the topic through theatre, discussions, group work and creative methods.

Outcomes of the activity

- Better understanding of conflict issues that could arrive on EVS.
- Increased awareness about EVS
- Participants development competences in conflict management, understanding the nature of conflict, how to analyse and prevent conflicts.
-Participants got to experiment with how to successfully deal with conflicts by the use of theatre
- Increased international partnerships
- Improved the overall quality of EVS projects of participating organisations

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

Full-time trainer: the training team consisted of 2 trainers, of which I was one.

I worked on this training for 5 days as a full time trainer.
