IUSY Feminist Working Group

The training activity took place
in Mollina, Spain
organised by International Union of Socialist Youth
17th to 24th of September 2017

Aims & objectives

The training aimed to reform a functioning Feminist Working Group that pushes the work on feminist issues within the organisation.

We wanted to give space for the participants to discover their own identity as feminist and women*men and shed light on feminism in a historical and global context. Further, we worked on gender and society, labour and body. In the last step, the participants developed a roadmap to structure their work after the training.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The group consisted of 6 participants from Albania, Austria, Italy, Israel, Latvia and the Netherland.

The team of three people came from Armenia, Germany and New Zealand.

Training methods used & main activities

For the training, I selected non-formal educational methods that focused on identity reflection and development such as Embodiment methods like Journey of my Body and Visual Practices like Body Map. Besides the educational programme, I created an additional self-care offer.

Outcomes of the activity

The group left the training with a roadmap for the upcoming six months. In the feedback from the participants especially elaborated on the personal development during the week.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

I was the only trainer. I developed the session outlines after agreeing with the responsible leadership member who joined the training as well.

I worked on this training for 5 days as a full time trainer.
