Aims & objectives

This training course was implemented as part of the ICYC (I CITY YOU CITY / SEE YOU SEE) project, which was a partnership in the field of using art tools for supporting development of young people as active social citizens. It brought together youth organisations that were already experienced in using various artistic tools and approaches in their activities. The goal of this particular training course was to train a group of youth workers on how to use the methodology of Forum Theatre when tackling social issues with their target groups.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

Target group of the project were youth workers other individuals who are directly involved in implementing activities with young people. The training aimed to acquaint the participants with methodology that they can use when they implement future activities on a local and international level - both within the ICYC project and elsewhere. Participants came from Germany, Belgium, United Kingdom, Spain, Russia, Iceland and Macedonia. The program was implemented by a team of three trainers.

Training methods used & main activities

The methodology of the training course was strongly based on the approach developed by Augusto Boal - Theatre of the Oppressed.

Outcomes of the activity

As a final result, the participants developed three Forum Theatre plays that were performed in front of local audience at the Poshka Theatre in Struga. Furthermore, as part of this project the participants implemented local forum theatre activities in their communities.
