H.A.P.P.Y. Healty Attitudes Promote Positive Youth

Aims & objectives

The project aim was to raise awareness of how positive attitudes can benefit young people, and how creative use of skills can increase young people’s employability and help them participate in politics, democracy and entrepreneurship.
The objectives were:
• Developing creativity to help challenge negative feelings and narrow viewpoints
• Promoting healthy and positive attitudes,
• Sharing methods for encouraging young people to use their skills in creative ways in order to increase their employability,
• Providing tools to stimulate the spirit of initiative and entrepreneurship,
• Promoting active citizenship and awareness of rights,
• Experiencing, discussing and sharing cultural diversity – especially in the aspect of democracy, (un)employment and youth approaches.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The target group was: youth workers, trainers and others who are actively working with young people as a professional or a volunteer from the UK, Belgium, Portugal, Italy, Austria, Bulgaria and Turkey.

Training methods used & main activities

Some of the tools used were: case studies, group sharing, roleplay and various creative methods to improve our competences in order to motivate young people to use their creativity and help them achieve desirable employment and active participation in democracy.

Outcomes of the activity

The training course responded to issues concerning young people such as unemployment, low self-esteem, and lack of initiative.
With a creative approach, sharing techniques and ideas on how to improve young people’s self-belief and help them to make the most of their skills and abilities. The team concentrated on healthy and positive attitudes in order to challenge negative thinking and stimulate the spirit of initiative and entrepreneurship. Through a range of different methods the trainers demonstrated ideas for empowering young people to become active and informed citizens, aware of their rights and opportunities. This equipped the youth workers in tools necessary to motivate and empower youth in their local environments.
