Aims & objectives

The aim of the on-arrival training was to prepare the Erasmus+ Youth in Action volunteers to work together and make them familiar with working in Finland and working around Metsäkartano youth centre.

During the training I prepared many training sessions about the themes of human rights and peace building to support the theme of this exact voluntary activity. I also used a lot of focus to prepare the young people to work together by introducing intercultural understanding, communication skills, conflict management skills and experiences of daily life in rural Finland.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

Young people in between 18 to 30 years old from Jordan, Lebanon, Belarus, Greece and Portugal.

Training methods used & main activities

For every part of the training I used different type of a non-formal methods. I used problem solving methods, group tasks indoors and outdoors, different variations of the learning cafe method, etc.

Outcomes of the activity

The participants were more familiar to each other and to work together. They learned to be more respectful towards each others different skills/ways to participate. They learned very well to communicate together.

Outcomes of the training are visible in Metsäkartano's social media pages (Facebook, Instagram and blog).

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

I was alone responsible for the four days long (+planning days) on-arrival training. My task was to plan and implement the training in given timeframe, themes and physical locations.

I worked on this training for 5 days as a full time trainer.
