At the end of the residential event, participants will:
● Increase their contextual awareness, in particular their understanding of diverse
national contexts, needs for safeguarding and safeguarding challenges.
● Be familiar with best practices and tools to pinpoint where to start improving
safeguarding and develop safeguarding mechanisms and create actionable
implementation plans.
● Have started to assess their own needs and develop a responsive action plan for
advancing safeguarding in their organizations and utilising the guidelines.
Following the residential event, there will be a series of online webinars, aimed at
disseminating and/ or upskilling other colleagues who work with ESC to increase their
mechanisms and procedures to ensure a safe environment for all.
The target group were representatives of National Agencies, Sending Organisations and Hosting Organisations of the European Solidarity Corps programme, in particular those who have key roles in safeguarding.
There were representatives from Latvia, France, Italy, French Guiana, Hungary, Egypt, Turkiye & Austria.
We used a variety of different non-formal educational methods throughout the agenda. From a walkie-talkie reflection exercise, drawing, Compass HRE activities, Miro collaborative work space, Dixit cards, International Market place, group work, case studies, role play and participant-led sessions.
Outcomes of the activity include:
- Safeguarding peer network across the participants and organisations
- List of actions for different members of the group, based on their interest or expertise, to be completed and shared with all participants
- 3 targetted webinars on safeguarding topics
- Finalisation of safeguarding guidelines for all ESC
- Action plan for advancing the topic in 2025
