Aims & objectives

EECO: Empowering Environmental Change Online is a 9-day (including arrival and departure day) training course for youth workers and youth leaders who would love to improve their communication and digital skills to raise awareness of the problem of the environment. During the project, participants will discuss the actual problems related to the environment and climate change and will brainstorm and advocate for becoming more sustainable at home, at work, traveling or while studying. During the second part of the training, participants will develop digital outcomes, as: Instagram Reels, TikToks, visuals, testimonials, stickers on raising awareness of the causes that harm our planet.

- Improve digital communication skills of youth workers and youth leaders to raise awareness about environmental issues and other topics relevant to their organization;
- Raise awareness about current environmental and climate change problems;
- Encourage creative advocacy through the development of digital content like Instagram Reels, TikToks, visuals, and testimonials on environmental issues.
- Promote collaboration and discussion among participants and brainstorm solutions for environmental challenges, as well as sharing the best local practices from the involved organizations and/or their government;
- Empower youth workers and leaders to take action in their communities through digital platforms and planning social media campaigns on important topics.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

Youth workers from Moldova, Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria.

Training methods used & main activities

In this training, I used a wide range of non-formal learning methods that focused on experiential learning, active participation, and peer-to-peer exchange. Some examples include:

"Moving Debates": A dynamic method where participants physically move to show their agreement or disagreement with certain statements. It stimulated critical thinking and respectful discussion in a non-formal format, with focus on values and personal experiences.

"YouthPass and ESC": An interactive workshop where participants reflected on their learning process using the Youthpass Key Competences Framework, shared personal goals, and mapped their learning in small groups.

Analysing and setting up social media campaigns to reach more young people

Each activity was structured to ensure learning by doing, self-reflection, and group interaction, which are core principles of non-formal education.

Outcomes of the activity

-Few social media campaigns launched by the participants;
-GuideBook with all the relevant information from the project
