Aims & objectives

A training course focussing at the use of Outdoor activities and experiential learning in the approach of youth at risk

Aims and objectives:
Explore and analyse how outdoor methods can be used to work with "young people at risk of exclusion"
More concretely:

-to explore the benefits of outdoor activities for youth at risk
-to Improve the skills of youth workers working with youth at risk in experiential learning and outdoor methods
-to get more insight in the theory of experiential learning, reflection techniques and group dynamics
- to share best practices on outdoor methods for youth at risk and how this contributes to the personal and social skills of your youngsters
link the experiences of the TC to the daily work situation at home by working out future action plans
- to explore how each of the participants works with youth at risk in his/her own working environment
-to explore how the Youth in Action Programme can be a tool for social inclusion for youth at risk

Targetgroup ; Youthworkers directly involved with youngsters at risk

outcomes:
- action 1.1. Youth exchanges: two youth exchange on the topic of outdoor with the following countries involved: Denmark, Slovenia, Belgium, Portugal, Austria, Norway and Lithuania

- a 1.1: youth excahnge project on the topic of equal rights, anti discrimination and fighting xenophobia, between the following country's: Poland, Portugal and Lithuania

- action 1.2 : transnational youth initiave about empowerment of the target group , between Bulgaria and Slovakia

- action 2 : EVS : first networking contacts between Spain, Belgium, Lithunia

- action 4.3 : 2 training courses : in the future to be organised:
* one in Norway about the approach of unemployed youngsters and the possiblities for help within the YIA
a second TC in SLovenia about the use of experiential learning: a deepening of the theme, using the results of this course...

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

participation of the following country's:
- Belgium, Bulgaria, Norway, Denmark, Spain, Portugal, Slovenia, Slovakia, Lithuania, Poland, Austria

Team : two trainers ( Both Belgian nationality ) and a representative of the Flemish national agency

- A lot of outdoor activities and experiential learning
- self reflection
- sharing and peer to peer moments
- personal reflection on the situation at home.
