Aims & objectives

-To provide youth workers and leaders with knowledge, skills and attitudes that will help them better address conflict situations that rise in their youth work and promote a culture of peace
-To offer non-formal learning activities that provide opportunities to practice skills and knowledge for addressing conflict
-To promote the core EU values of respect for Human rights, non violence, social cohesion & diversity as well as cooperation under the Erasmus+ programme.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The training course "Conflict: An opportunity for learning!” is a result of collaboration of
28 youth workers from 12 EU and neighborhood countries; Armenia, Egypt, Germany,
Greece, Cyprus, Lebanon, the Netherlands, Palestine, Poland, Russia, Turkey and
Ukraine.

Training methods used & main activities

The training course was based on non-formal education methods that emphasize the
importance of experiential learning and learner-centered approaches where
participants can explore and learn in a safe space. Training session followed the Kolb
cycle, i.e. experiencing – observing and reflecting – giving theoretical background –
linking with reality, and develop participants’ skills, attitudes and knowledge. and its key
principles of interaction, cooperation, holistic approach, intercultural learning, using
experiences of participants, while taking in account the group dynamics and group
needs.

Outcomes of the activity

The activities aimed at exploring the complex nature of conflict and its various aspects, encouraging competence development in the filed of non-violent conflict transformation, conflict resolution and recognizing the important role of youth work as response to conflict and violence affecting young people. Youth developed their social and civic competence as well as interpersonal and intercultural skills.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

a) Delivered "Communicating Needs and Emotions in Youth Work" session
b) Handled the daily end of day reflection covering the major learning insights and challenges
c) Hosted and organized the Intercultural evenings
d) Hosted and organized the NGO fair

I worked on this training for 7 days as a full time trainer.
