Creating a common understanding of what culture is.
… and of what it is not

Description of the tool

Split participants into groups and give each group an envelope with the words. Ask them to agree on a definition of culture using the words they are given. They have 20 minutes to agree

The participants present their definitions written on a flip-chart.

Debriefing
What is culture? (sum up the important aspects of their definitions)
What did you include?
What did you leave out?
Why?
Where does culture come from?
Can cultures change?
