A dynamic simulation where players must analyse, verify, and categorise a flood of online information before time runs out — testing their fact-checking and critical thinking skills under pressure.
Aims of the tool
To enhance analytical and decision-making skills by:
a) Training participants to verify, assess, and organise information efficiently; and
b) Reinforcing awareness of information overload and the need for credible, balanced evaluation of online content.
Description of the tool
Information Avalanche, part of the Unfake Social Media project’s Social Media Simulation category, immerses players in a high-pressure environment flooded with news headlines, social media posts, and expert opinions.
Their mission is to analyse, verify, and categorise each piece of information correctly before time runs out. The game replicates real-world digital overwhelm, encouraging participants to practise quick, evidence-based reasoning.
By confronting the chaos of today’s online information flow, players develop stronger fact-checking skills, strategic prioritisation, and a deeper understanding of how misinformation spreads.
