A practical Erasmus+ toolkit using the Scout Method and nature-based learning to support young people’s mental health, well-being, resilience, reflection, and personal development through activities, case studies, and training modules.
To provide youth workers, trainers, educators, and scout leaders with practical tools and methodologies based on the Scout Method to support young people’s mental health, emotional well-being, resilience, self-awareness, teamwork, and connection with nature.
This Toolkit was developed within the Erasmus+ project “Foster mental health of young people by using the scout method” as a practical learning resource for youth work. It combines the values and methods of scouting with non-formal education, reflection, and nature-based learning in order to promote the mental health and well-being of young people.
The Toolkit includes practical activities linked to the Scout Laws, training modules for facilitators, case studies from project implementation, and evaluation and reflection elements. It was designed not only to explain the methodology, but also to support direct implementation in youth work settings, making it useful for local and international activities, workshops, training courses, and community-based youth initiatives.
Its learning outcomes include improved understanding of how the Scout Method can support mental health and youth development; stronger competences in facilitating reflection, teamwork, and nature-based learning; and greater capacity to adapt activities to different groups and contexts. The Toolkit supports the development of emotional awareness, resilience, confidence, communication, social connection, and active participation among young people, while also strengthening the professional practice of youth workers and educators.
