Simulation Exercise, Exercise, Manual
A practical manual for youth workers containing at least 8 non-formal methods on financial literacy, complete with facilitator guides, step-by-step instructions, and debriefing questions. Developed within the Erasmus+ KA153 "Money Matters" project.
To equip youth workers and educators with a concrete, ready-to-use set of non-formal education methods for facilitating financial literacy sessions with young people. The guide aims to strengthen youth workers' confidence and competence as financial educators, supporting their daily work with young people who face economic challenges or financial disadvantages.
"Old Money Matters" is the youth-worker-facing edition of a two-part toolkit developed during the "Money Matters: Training Youth Workers to Empower, Educate and Elevate" training course, an Erasmus+ KA153 Youth Workers Mobility project implemented by five European partner organisations: the Association Education for Real Life (AEVR, Romania), Active Kosmos (Spain), Coconut Italia (Italy), Fundacja 108 (Poland), and Pangea Association (Turkey).
This manual was created collaboratively by the 25 youth workers who participated in the training course held in Busteni, Romania, in October 2025. It brings together methods that were either tested and validated during the training itself or researched and contributed by youth workers from the five partner countries based on their own professional experience.
The guide is structured to be immediately useful for any youth worker, regardless of their prior knowledge of financial topics. Each method is presented in a consistent, easy-to-follow format that includes: the title and brief description of the method; recommended group size and age range; duration; materials needed; step-by-step facilitation instructions; debriefing questions and reflection prompts; learning outcomes; ideas for variations and adaptations for different contexts or target groups; and notes on using the method with young people facing financial difficulties or social exclusion.
