This document provides fully detailed step-by-step guidance for key methods used in the RISE training course (September 21–26, 2025, Klaipeda, Lithuania), implemented by the Social Sustainability Academy (Socialinio tvarumo akademija, Lithuania).
The RISE training course applied a range of experiential, creative, and proven approaches to build youth workers’ competencies in supporting young people’s mental health and in safeguarding their own well-being. The emphasis was on active contribution, participation, reflection and practice-based learning rather than purely theoretical instruction.
During the RISE project training course, participants were trained in advanced methods of engaging young people through evidence-based connection-building techniques, with particular emphasis on providing timely and appropriate support in difficult and crisis situations. These included cases of acute stress, anxiety, depression, suicide intentions, self-harm, and experiences of psychological trauma. The training also introduced participants to structured applications of art therapy and mindfulness practices, equipping them with practical tools to foster resilience, emotional regulation, and safe channels of self-expression among young people.
The project participants also gained strategies for stress management, self-care, and burnout prevention, enabling them to maintain high levels of engagement and emotional stamina. By embedding these practices, organisations foster healthier work environments, ensure the long-term sustainability of youth work, and ultimately contribute to improved outcomes for young people .
