Simulation Exercise, Group Building Activity
A break out game with the theme of anti¬-bullying where the participants collect clues and learn about children’s rights to help a boy in need.
The aim of this game is to reduce separation and bullying between kids, teaching them inclusiveness, fairness, social intimacy and trust, through non-verbal communication and an act of sharing your food, which creates a deeper connection.
The game starts with the players finding a chat in which a bullied student is asking for help. The participants of the game will have to open a lunch box, stolen from the student. The clues to gain access to the box will be hidden in a room. The first step will include finding emojis representing the emotions of the hero of the game. They will lead to the key for the his/her diary. The diary will have another clue, a link to a YouTube video from UNESCO explaining children rights. The participants must rely on the message in the diary to find the combination for the lunchbox.
1. Create a chat/letter explaining the situation using https://app.ex.co/create/new/edit or use the one from the resources folder created by us. (https://app.ex.co/stories/viljaa10/help-)
2. Create a message for the diary using our example, which you can find in the resources folder. The message should contain the link for the UNESCO video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mI2dYmNCJVQ) and hints to how to find the code in it. The word TIME and HELP appear in the diary message as hints. The word HELP will appear at 1:33 in the video, which is the code for the lock on the lunchbox.
3. Add the letter to the diary with the clues, lock the diary. (key lock)
4. Create four emojis which represent the four feelings of the hero, on the back write anGry, scaRed, alOne, Worried, highlighting one letter in each of the words G, R, O, W to formulate the word GROW.
5. Create a sticker with the words WE GROW!. Put it near a plant, hide the key for the diary under or in the plant.
6. Create a letter to be added to the lunch box using our example, which you can find in the resources folder.
7. Before the game starts, hide the diary and the four emotions of the student, place the locked box in the room.
8. Place a laptop with the chat opened on a table and also leave a blank page open in a browser.
9. Using coloured tape mark the areas in the room which can’t be touched.
10. Before the game starts explain the game and give instructions. (For example: The room is yours, explore, look for clues and follow your heart!
