Info session
Through interactive infographics and engaging activities, this tool supports youth and youth workers in guiding participants to express themselves clearly, handle conflicts constructively, and improve their public speaking abilities.
This set of visually engaging infographics makes it easy to introduce key communication, conflict resolution and public speaking concepts in an interactive way. Youth workers, educators, and trainers can use these materials in discussions, role-playing exercises, and hands-on activities to help young people build confidence in their communication skills.
"Hear Me Out" was a youth exchange designed to help young people develop essential communication, conflict resolution and public speaking skills.
The youth exchange was organised from October 20 to October 28, 2024, and provides practical resources that can be used in workshops, schools, and youth programs.
What topics do the infographics cover:
1. Conflict Resolution Strategies
- Teaching young people how to identify the real issue behind a conflict rather than just reacting to surface-level disagreements.
- Encouraging active listening and collaboration to find solutions that work for everyone.
- Using nonviolent communication techniques to express feelings and needs.
2. Active Listening Skills
- Helping participants stay fully present in conversations and use non-verbal cues like eye contact and body language.
- Practicing open-ended questions and reflection to ensure clear understanding.
- Learning to listen without interrupting and showing genuine interest in what others have to say.
3. Public Speaking Techniques
- Developing confidence through posture, gestures, and eye contact.
- Using vocal variety and pacing to keep an audience engaged.
- Managing nervousness and using personal stories to connect with listeners.
How to Implement It
- Start by discussing the key ideas in the infographics to introduce each topic.
- Use role-playing exercises where participants practice resolving conflicts, giving speeches, or listening actively.
- Encourage self-reflection and peer feedback to reinforce learning.
- Adapt the activities to real-life situations relevant to the participants.
