Handbook "The Tree of Life"

Aims of the tool

Our Handbook aims to:
- organizing, promoting, and effectively conducting reforestation campaigns;
- selecting appropriate species for the respective ecosystem, soil preparation, root care, protection against diseases and pests as well as subsequent care during the first 1-2 years after planting;
- urban reforestation skills, including with relevant institutions, obtaining permits, and planting fruit trees;
- knowledge of opportunities for national and European funding for creating orchards by young farmers and cultivating them organically.

Description of the tool

This handbook was developed through the Erasmus+ project "The Tree of Life." It serves as a comprehensive manual on effective leadership in afforestation campaigns. The handbook provides detailed information on soil preparation and the soil types characteristic of Italy, Bulgaria, Spain, and Denmark. Furthermore, it includes in-depth guidance on the preparation and planting of young trees, planting techniques, post-planting care, motivation management, EU-funded support programs for young farmers, public speaking, and ecological initiatives. On the last page there is an embedded link to a survey so its readers can rate the material's contents, based on which we can keep improving its quality.

On the last page of the Handbook, there is a link to an online platform providing photos and information about afforestation and other environmental campaigns in which participants in the “Tree of Life” project have taken part.
