Description of the tool

The Global Framework of Initiatives for Carbon Farming Awareness and Education is a comprehensive educational tool developed under the Erasmus+ project CarboFarmHub. It presents ten innovative and participatory initiatives designed to raise awareness, foster learning, and encourage sustainable agricultural practices among youth, farmers, and stakeholders across Europe.

The tool combines non-formal education methods such as webinars, podcasts, field visits, competitions, and digital learning resources to promote knowledge exchange and community engagement. It helps trainers, educators, and facilitators design activities that connect traditional farming wisdom with modern, climate-smart practices.

Learning Outcomes

Participants using this tool will:

Understand the concept and principles of carbon farming and its role in climate change mitigation.

Gain practical knowledge of sustainable land-management practices (e.g., agroforestry, reduced tillage, cover crops).

Develop environmental awareness and active citizenship in line with the European Green Deal and Farm-to-Fork Strategy.

Enhance collaboration, critical thinking, and peer learning skills through participatory activities.

Build capacity to initiate or support local and international actions promoting climate-resilient agriculture.

Materials needed:

Digital access to the Global Framework of Initiatives – CarboFarmHub (PDF or online).

Computer, projector, or smartboard for presenting videos, slides, and webinars.

Internet connection to access online resources, Cultivate platform, and virtual sessions.

Basic multimedia tools (camera, microphone, or smartphone) for creating videos, podcasts, or photo materials.

Flipcharts, markers, and handouts for group work or in-person workshops.

Duration:

The tool is modular and adaptable. Each initiative or activity can be implemented separately depending on the context and target group:

Short sessions (30–60 min): Webinars, podcasts, video screenings, or introductory discussions.

Half-day sessions (2–4 hrs): Workshops, photographic competitions, or participatory group activities.

Full-day or multi-day sessions: Field visits, roundtables, or combined awareness and training events.

Trainers can select one or more modules to design tailor-made learning experiences that fit their group’s time, resources, and learning goals.
