Digital Roots is an educational card game developed as part of the project Digital Roots (2023-3-BG01-KA210-YOU-000169900). It was designed to reconnect young people with the rich cultural traditions of Bulgaria and Türkiye in a playful, interactive way.
The aim of Digital Roots is to educate and inspire young people by transforming traditional customs, rituals, and cultural knowledge from Bulgaria and Türkiye into an engaging card game. It promotes cultural awareness, intergenerational learning, and curiosity about heritage, encouraging youth to connect with their roots through play.
Digital Roots is an interactive educational card game that brings the rich traditions of Bulgaria and Türkiye into young people’s hands — through play. Designed for ages 5 to 105, it combines memory and trivia challenges to explore customs, rituals, and lesser-known cultural facts. The game includes four themed memory decks (famous and not-so-famous traditions from both countries), a set of informative fact cards, a dice, and a trivia question list. Players can enjoy two game modes: a classic Memory Match (ages 5–10) and a more advanced Memory & Trivia Challenge (ages 10+), making it ideal for families, schools, and youth groups. Developed under the Erasmus+ project Digital Roots (2023-3-BG01-KA210-YOU-000169900), it was created in collaboration between the Bulgarian foundation Education 21st Century and the Turkish organization Dijital Aktif, with the goal of inspiring curiosity and intergenerational learning through culture and fun.

The target group of Digital Roots includes children, teenagers, and young people, particularly those engaged in non-formal education, youth groups, and intercultural learning environments. The game also aims to include people from marginalized communities, who were among the main sources of knowledge and inspiration during the research phase. By involving them in the process, the project highlights their role as carriers of living tradition and promotes social inclusion through cultural exchange. Suitable for schools, families, and youth organizations, the game encourages players of all ages and backgrounds.
