Description of the tool

This field guide offers practical methods and frameworks for educators and youth workers who want to engage young people (aged 11–18) in everyday democracy. Drawing on the Critical ChangeLab project (Horizon Europe), it presents five phases of democratic pedagogy — Grounding, Co-constructing Knowledge, Envisioning, Putting Into Practice, and Reflecting Together — alongside 15 hands-on creative methods such as Meme Making, Theatre of the Oppressed, Photovoice, Zine Making, and Walk of Privilege. The guide is grounded in a social justice approach to democracy education and encourages facilitators to work with discomfort, power structures, and youth agency as central elements of the learning process.
