Aims of the tool

• To strengthen youth workers’ competences in using art as a supportive and therapeutic tool in youth work.
• To promote emotional education and inclusion through creative practices.
• To increase quality and innovation in youth work by applying tested art-based methods.
• To develop soft skills such as communication, empathy, critical thinking, teamwork, and stress-management.

Description of the tool

The toolset was developed through international training and local implementation phases in Poland, Cyprus, and Latvia. Each element focuses on the use of movement, drama, visual arts, photography, and music to facilitate self-expression and personal growth. The handbook provides methodology and workshop scenarios, the activity cards guide step-by-step sessions, and the videos demonstrate practical application. All tools follow principles of non-formal education and can be applied in various youth work settings.

Materials needed:

• Tool cards (printable or digital).
• Handbook with instructions and workshop plans.
• Video tutorials and examples.
• Additional equipment depending on the chosen module: art supplies, music playback device, camera or phone for photography, and open space for movement or drama activities.

Duration:

Duration depends on the selected module: individual activities range from 20 to 90 minutes, while full workshop cycles can extend to several sessions or a whole programme period. Each activity follows a structured process:

1. Introduction and emotional safety guidelines
2. Art-based practices (movement, drama, arts, photography, music)
3. Group and individual reflection
4. Short evaluation using cards or feedback tools
