A practical guide for teachers to integrate the Brain Waves project in class, using robotics, coding, and service learning to empower students to create digital solutions that promote inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities.

Aims of the tool

The main objective of the Brain Waves Didactic Guide is to provide teachers with practical tools and methodologies to implement the Service Learning approach in the classroom, enabling students to develop digital solutions that support the inclusion of people with disabilities.

Description of the tool

The Brain Waves learning tool is an innovative educational resource designed to support teachers in integrating the Service Learning methodology into their classrooms. The guide is structured into several sections that introduce key concepts related to intellectual disabilities, including a classification of disability types, inclusive vocabulary, and useful external resources. It also includes concept-mapping activities to help students organise their learning, a step-by-step didactic proposal divided into strategic phases, and a variety of hands-on classroom activities using tools such as LEGO, Makey Makey, and Scratch. Using the Brain Waves learning tool, students not only gain knowledge about different intellectual disabilities and their social impact, but also learn to connect what they study with real community needs. The Brain Waves learning tool helps improve students’ digital literacy and competences by engaging them in meaningful, hands-on activities.

The Guide is available online in English, Italian, Danish and Spanish:
