The following toolkit is designed to support the aims goals, and objectives of our project, which focuses on promoting non-formal education and enhancing the
competences of young people concerning topics of conflict management and conflict resolution.
- To promote and support the role of young people in peace-building activities.
- To strengthen the presence and promote the values of the Council of Europe in conflict - affected areas and communities.
- To provide young people withe equal opportunities and experience to play a full part in all aspects of society.
- To foster intercultural dialogue and understanding of conflict management among participants.
- To develop conflict-resolutions skills and strategies among young people.
- To establish a transnational networks among participants.
The Conflicts Divide but Resolutions Unite Toolkit is designed to equip young people with essential skills and knowledge to manage and resolve conflicts effectively. This toolkit is part of the "Conflicts Divide but Resolutions Unite" project, funded by the Polish National Agency (FRSE) under Erasmus+ program. The project, which takes place in Hammamet, Tunisia, from March 1-10, 2024, brings together 36 youth workers and young individuals aged 18-35.
The toolkit aims to promote non-formal education and increase the competencies of young people in the areas of conflict management and resolution.
The key learning objectives included:
- Empower young people to play active roles in peace-building and conflict resolution within their communities.
- Increase mutual understanding and intercultural dialogue among participants from diverse backgrounds.
- Equip participants with practical skills and strategies for resolving conflicts peacefully and effectively.
- Promote the protection and promotion of human rights, intercultural dialogue, and democratic values.
- Create a network for knowledge exchange and collaboration among participants to foster economic sustainability and community development.
Participants have gained the following competencies and skills throughout the TC:
- Grasp fundamental concepts of conflict management, including the nature, types, and stages of conflict.
- Learn about the root causes of conflicts and various conflict resolution methods such as adjudication, arbitration, conciliation, and facilitation.
- Engage in role-playing, group work, and situational simulations to develop empathy, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Practice non-violent communication techniques to foster peaceful interactions and resolve disputes amicably.
- Analyze conflicts through case studies and real-life examples, enhancing critical thinking and reasoning skills.
- Reflect on personal experiences and insights to develop self-awareness and emotional intelligence.
- Understand the role of media in conflict, identify manipulative tactics, and develop strategies to counter misinformation and propaganda.
- Learn methods for analyzing online content and improving digital communication to manage conflicts in the online space.
- Participate in team-building activities to foster trust, cooperation, and cohesion among peers.
- Increase the ability to work collaboratively in diverse groups, respecting different perspectives and cultural backgrounds.
The toolkit employs a blend of theoretical and practical approaches to ensure a holistic learning experience.
