All United for Refugees, created within the Erasmus+ project Stepping Beyond Tents, is a practical guide offering youth workers, educators, NGOs, and institutions tools to promote inclusion and intercultural understanding of young refugees across Europe.
The aims of the brochure All United for Refugees are to:
Support youth workers and educators in developing inclusive, safe, and empowering environments for young refugees and migrants.
Provide practical tools and methods for fostering social inclusion, participation, and intercultural dialogue through non-formal education.
Bridge theory and practice by translating European inclusion policies and research into concrete, adaptable activities for local implementation.
Strengthen the capacity of organisations (NGOs, municipalities, youth centres) to design and manage projects that effectively respond to the needs of young refugees.
Encourage cooperation and knowledge sharing among organisations across Europe working in the fields of youth, migration, and education.
In short, the brochure aims to empower professionals working with young refugees and to turn inclusion principles into daily practice throughout Europe.
All United for Refugees is a practical and accessible guideline designed to support youth workers, educators, NGOs, and public institutions working with young refugees and migrants across Europe. Developed through an Erasmus+ cooperation project between France (CIFIR), Spain (Backslash), and Türkiye (Old Green School), this brochure combines theoretical frameworks with concrete tools to foster inclusion, participation, and intercultural understanding.
The publication provides:
Context and analysis of current challenges in refugee inclusion across different European realities.
Practical methodologies for youth work, including non-formal education activities, mentorship, language support, and community-building approaches.
Good practices and recommendations for organisations wishing to strengthen their capacity to welcome and support young refugees.
Checklists and evaluation tools to help professionals monitor progress and adapt strategies to local needs.
The guideline is the result of a collaborative process involving youth workers, educators, and organisations active in the field of migration and social inclusion. It aims to bridge the gap between theory and practice by translating policy principles into actionable strategies.
After its publication, the brochure was disseminated to 100 organisations in 30 countries through an automated email campaign (contacts collected from the SALTO Youth website). It is now being used as a basis for new training sessions and activities, including a Partnership Building Activity (ID: KA153-YOU-90781F65) that integrates one full day of workshops inspired by the strategies in the guide.
By sharing this resource through the SALTO Toolbox, the project team seeks to empower more youth workers, promote collaboration between organisations, and ultimately reach the main beneficiaries of the initiative — young refugees across Europe.
