Discussion on the topic of ‘European identity’

Description of the tool

Preparation: A questionnaire is developed with 6 questions which are related to European identity and motivate discussion e.g.
3 words which describe ‘my’ Europe
1 thing which I am proud of with regard to Europe
1 thing which I am not so proud of with regard to Europe
1 thing which we never do in Europe
1 thing which we always do in Europe

Procedure: The questionnaires are distributed and the participants then complete theirs individually (at least 10 mins). They then discuss the individual questions in small groups.

Evaluation: The following questions can be presented for evaluation in small groups or plenum:
- Is there a European identity?
- Where are we now in Europe?
- What connects us?
- What can you only find in Europe?
- Can we be proud of Europe?
- or only of our own country – if at all? Etc.

As intensification in a playful way ‘the promotional sales trip’ (group dynamic methods) could be used as a follow –on.
