The "In-DigiT" Project: Practical Resources for Responsible Digital Training

Aims of the tool

Digital technologies have transformed education and training, creating new opportunities for learning, collaboration and access to knowledge. At the same time, digitalisation has introduced important challenges related to sustainability, accessibility, inclusion, data protection and digital wellbeing. Training organisations and educators are increasingly expected not only to use digital tools, but to use them responsibly.

The In-DigiT Erasmus+ project was created to support this transition by helping trainers, training centres, IT managers, education professionals, pedagogical engineers and organisations adopt more inclusive, sustainable and responsible digital practices.

The project focused on reducing barriers to digitalisation while promoting a more ethical and environmentally responsible use of digital technologies in education and training.

The project aimed to:
- Promote responsible, inclusive and sustainable digital practices in education and training.
- Support trainers, educators, pedagogical engineers and training organisations in improving their digital skills and practices.
- Reduce the environmental impact of digital technologies through frugal and sustainable approaches.
- Foster inclusive, accessible, ethical and learner-centred digital learning environments.
- Raise awareness of responsible digitalisation by promoting seven key qualities: Inclusive, Frugal, Democratic, Protective, Enabling, Fair and Innovative.

To support these objectives, the partnership developed a comprehensive collection of free learning resources that can be immediately used by educators, trainers and organisations.

Description of the tool

- The "Booklet of 50 EU Sustainable IT Best Practices for Education & Training", showcasing inspiring examples, practices and interviews from across Europe that promote sustainable, inclusive and socially responsible digital practices in education and training to guide people to use digital tools compatible with the objectives of sustainable development and show that there are more responsible alternatives to current digital practices.

- The Self-Assessment Tool, allowing trainers, pedagogical engineers, IT managers and training organisations to evaluate their current digital practices, identify strengths and areas for improvement, and receive personalised recommendations.

- The Online Training Programme, consisting of 10 interactive modules available in video, podcast and PDF format. The course explores key topics including the foundations of responsible digitalisation, European digital accessibility legislation, inclusive and democratic digital practices, the role of digital tools in learning, eco-social design, frugal digital practices, creating meaningful digital education, protective digital practices (privacy, cybersecurity and data protection), and strategies for building a more sustainable and responsible digital education ecosystem across Europe.

- Two Digital Escape Games, The Clockwork City and The Time-Travelling Hackers, designed to introduce the principles of responsible digitalisation through interactive storytelling, collaborative problem-solving and engaging challenges.

All resources are freely available online in English, Italian, French, Greek and Bulgarian, making them accessible to educators and organisations across Europe.

In addition to these learning materials, the project website includes articles exploring topics such as digital sustainability, responsible AI, digital accessibility, cybersecurity, digital inclusion and responsible digital transformation, providing further inspiration for anyone interested in building more ethical, inclusive and sustainable digital learning environments.
