Manual
The Critical Thinking Workshop (“Disinformation Lab”) is a non-formal education method designed to help young people understand how misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation work in practice.
The main aim is to:
- strengthen critical thinking skills
- improve media literacy
- help young people recognise manipulation techniques
- understand how disinformation spreads
- build resilience against fake news
Disinformation Lab: Learning Critical Thinking is a non-formal education tool developed within the project “Democracy – That’s Me!” and implemented by Social Sustainability Academy. The method helps young people understand how information manipulation works in digital environments.
Participants are introduced to misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation, as well as common forms of information disorder. Through interactive activities and a simulation game, they explore how fake news spreads. In group work, participants create their own disinformation content using different techniques, which is later analysed and discussed.
Learning Outcomes:
Participants will:
- understand the differences between misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation;
- recognise common forms of information disorder;
- develop critical thinking and media literacy skills;
- better evaluate the reliability of information;
- understand how disinformation spreads;
- become more responsible when consuming and sharing information.
