Manual
A collection of inspiring examples from partner countries showing how music can support inclusion, intercultural dialogue, self-expression and social connection for young migrants and refugees.
The tool aims to help youth workers and educators use music as a practical method for inclusion. It supports them in creating activities that encourage participation, self-expression, intercultural dialogue, confidence and social connection, especially with young migrants and refugees.
The Manual of Good Practices is a learning resource designed for youth workers, educators and organisations interested in using music as a tool for inclusion. It brings together a collection of inspiring practices from different partner countries, showing how music can support the inclusion of young migrants and refugees in varied social, cultural and educational contexts. Rather than offering step-by-step workshop plans, the manual presents concrete examples, approaches and experiences that illustrate how music can foster expression, intercultural dialogue, confidence, participation and social connection.
The manual helps learners explore different ways music can be used in youth work and non-formal education, while also deepening their understanding of inclusion in practice. It highlights the diversity of possible approaches, from collective creation and songwriting to choir work, recording, performance and intercultural exchange. By presenting real examples from the field, it supports reflection, inspiration and transfer to other contexts.
Learning outcomes:
After using this tool, learners will be able to better understand how music can be used as a tool for inclusion; identify different approaches and practices that support the participation of young migrants and refugees; reflect on the role of music in fostering dialogue, confidence and belonging; recognise examples of inclusive practice in different contexts; and draw inspiration from these experiences to adapt or develop their own inclusive activities in youth work and non-formal education.
