Easy-to-Read football manual supporting inclusion of young people with intellectual disabilities through simple rules, adapted leagues, and step-by-step training activities.

The Easy-to-Read International Football Manual for Inclusion was developed within the European All Are Champions League (EACL) project to make football accessible and understandable for young people with intellectual disabilities.
The tool uses clear language, visual elements, and structured explanations to present:
- Basic football concepts (teams, goalkeeper, scoring)
- Two adapted league formats (Happy League and Competitive League)
- Simple game rules and match structure
- Training exercises (dribbling, passing, shooting, teamwork)
- Health, safety and preparation guidelines
- Key values such as fun, respect and mutual support
The manual can be used by youth workers, coaches, educators and sport organisations working in non-formal education settings. It supports inclusive group work, adapted sport sessions and structured training activities.
Learning outcomes
After using this tool, participants and facilitators will:
- Understand simplified football rules and game structure
- Recognise different levels of participation (recreational and competitive)
- Develop basic football skills (dribbling, passing, shooting, teamwork)
- Improve social interaction and cooperation in group settings
- Increase confidence and motivation to participate in sport
- Apply inclusive and accessible communication methods in sport activities
The tool contributes to inclusion, participation and equal access to sport for young people with intellectual disabilities while supporting youth workers in implementing structured and safe football activities.
