A Tool Kit of best practices for youth workers combines clear explanations with engaging formats (videos, infographics, and templates). The toolkit makes it simple for youth workers to integrate effective intercultural inclusion into their programmes.
By providing a clear and adaptable framework, the Toolkit enables organisations to apply the Human Library methodology effectively to foster empathy, inclusion, and intercultural understanding.
The Toolkit has been fully developed and validated as a comprehensive and practical resource supporting the implementation of the Human Library methodology and intercultural competence development. It is structured into clearly defined thematic chapters, including: an introduction and usage guidelines; a conceptual framework on youth work and interculturality; key intercultural concepts; the importance of interculturality in youth contexts; development of intercultural competences; methods and activities; implementation of the Human Library methodology; best practices based on real project experiences; and annexes with templates and checklists. It provides step-by-step guidance, templates, and multimedia elements that support facilitators and organisations in promoting intercultural dialogue, empathy, and inclusion through storytelling.
The toolkit combines different formats (texts, infographics, videos) as well as different types of practical exercises, such as individual reflection activities, small group discussions, experiential learning dynamics, empathy-based exercises, communication games, and structured Human Library sessions. Each activity includes clear objectives, target group definitions, required materials, step-by-step implementation guidelines, estimated duration and recommendations for adaptation to different contexts (in-person, online or hybrid). This ensures that the Toolkit is not only informative but directly applicable in educational, social and community-based settings.
In addition, the Toolkit integrates a strong multimedia component. Content is presented through written explanations, visual infographics and short educational videos (30–60 seconds), accessible via embedded QR codes. These multimedia elements enhance accessibility, support different learning styles and facilitate immediate use in training sessions or workshops.
The Toolkit is available in six languages and has been positively evaluated by multiple organisations that confirmed its clarity, logical structure, and applicability. It consolidates the project’s best practices and offers operational tools that make it easily adaptable to local needs. Its modular format allows users to select activities and materials according to their context, ensuring flexibility and effectiveness in implementation.
