This booklet, based on the YOU(TH) CLOWN project, offers guidance for youth workers and young people (16–25) to introduce social clowning, organize volunteering, and promote engagement through creative, educational animation.

Aims of the tool

TThe goal of YOU(TH) CLOWN is to support the organization of community volunteering events, encourage active youth participation, and promote social engagement through creative and educational animation. At its core, the project aims to foster youth involvement in volunteering and social entrepreneurship by spreading awareness and understanding of the social clown figure. By equipping youth workers with practical social clowning tools, the project enables them to inspire and mobilize young people to take part in meaningful local volunteering actions. Furthermore, YOU(TH) CLOWN seeks to develop innovative forms of volunteering that directly respond to real needs within local communities, while also strengthening international cooperation and building new bridges between European regions.

Description of the tool

This booklet, developed from the YOU(TH) CLOWN project, is a practical educational resource designed for youth workers and young people aged 16–25. It provides guidelines and inspiration for introducing social clowning as a method of community engagement, aimed at organizing volunteering events that respond to local needs. Rooted in socio-educational animation, the tool promotes active youth participation, creativity, and community support through accessible, inclusive, and artistic approaches.

Learning Outcomes:
- Understand the concept and role of the social clown in community engagement.
- Acquire tools and methods to design and implement social clowning activities with youth.
- Develop transversal skills such as creativity, empathy, collaboration, communication, and adaptability.
- Strengthen young people's motivation, self-confidence, and sense of initiative.
- Gain practical experience in planning and delivering a community-based volunteering event.
- Foster social inclusion by working with diverse and vulnerable groups.
- Encourage international cooperation and solidarity through shared best practices.
- Promote social entrepreneurship and civic engagement aligned with the EU Youth Strategy.

This tool supports youth empowerment, especially among NEETs and those with fewer opportunities, by enhancing personal development and employability through creative, community-oriented action.
