Fundatia de Voluntari Somaschi

Primarily focusing on the prevention of school and family abandonment, it offers helping for poor families in Baia Mare, Romania through donations of food, medicines, and clothes. The programs includes: a day care center, the Miani Community Home, street children rescue center and Unit Mobile activity, the semiauthonomy program and an active Volunteer Program.
Program Overview
The Day Center is comprised of two main programs:
The LEO laboratory (Occupational Education Laboratory) integrates 12 young people who do not attend school by teaching the children work skills and trades to help them find jobs when they leave the foundation at the age of 18. The class is run by an educator (teacher) with the support of volunteers from the Volunteer Program.

The LES laboratory (School Educational Laboratory) consists of 23 young people who are helped by one educator (teacher) and volunteers in doing their homework. This is a very important program for these children as many of the schools in Romania are under funded and ill-equipped to support the special needs of these children. This program strongly encourages children to stay in school by giving them the extra one-on-one tutoring for their studies. As all of these children come from either very poor or troubled homes, the Lab offers them a supportive and protective environment which they would otherwise not receive.
By attending to some of the children’s emotional needs, the educators are able to re-focus the children on their education and future.

All the Children in the day care center receive a hot lunch . For many, this is the only meal they receive in a day.

The Miani Community is a small family group home for boys. Unfortunately there is only room for 8 boys, all of which attend the day care center. As many of the children would otherwise be living on the streets or government care facilities, the Community provides them a home where they can learn family values and skills needed to build their own lives in the future.
Night Shelter-the children of the street are welcomed in the shelter during the night and emergency procedure being opened every night. We try to attract them to participate to the fundatia programs during the day.
semi-autonomous - cuprinisi Youth Foundation in the program who are older than 18 years and have a job, learn to autogospodareasca, helped by a educador.

Semi-autonomy - in this program are involved young people who are older than 18 years and have a job;they learn to become holders of their life, helped by an educador.

Social assistance - This help is offered through the distribution of food, medicine, clothing and small monetary donations.
Surgery and pharmacy - in collaboration with the Italian Catholic doctors and Catholic Medical Association in Baia Mare we offer medical assistance to poor families and donate medicine ti more hospitals.

Aid and support in disaster

The Volunteers Program is a group of about 40 volunteers between the ages of 15 and 34. These volunteers help the educators with the activities in the day care center as well as the Miani group home. They also organize other out reach programs within the community.

The foundation is a place where we try to build and create an environment where children want to be; where they feel safe, protected and can just be kids. We try to supply them with the instruments, skills and lessons they will use in their future.
The Fundatia child integration programs is under contract with his family according to the specific needs of each family .Under this contract the family assume certain responsibilities and is subject to certain roulesThey also have monthly a meeting with the social worker and the educator who deals directly the case.
