Bridges for Training 2001
Bridges for Training - A European Training Event
The first edition of Bridges for Training took place in Brugge in September 2001 and brought together over 150 trainers (from inside and outside the usual circuits), training organizers, politicians and National Agencies of the YOUTH programme.
- Bridges for Training served as a platform to get an update on the latest political developments in the field of youth and training, such as the European Commission's White Paper on Youth, the Partnership on Training and Youth between the European Commission and the Council of Europe or the debate on Life Long Learning
- Bridges for Training also created a well needed forum for trainers and training organizers to network, to present their work, to try out new methodologies or to set up new projects and partnerships
- It was at Bridges for Training that innovative ideas were launched and discussed, such as the European Training Calendar. Bridges for Training was the frame in which the idea for the Trainers Online for Youth (TOY) database was conceived, to make experienced European trainers more known and accessible to training organizers
- Bridges for Training was also a show case to present and discuss the SALTO training courses and the potential to adapt these ready made well documented training concepts to the different national levels
Bridges for Training was organized by with the financial support of the European Commission, the Flemish Community in the framework of the Belgian Presidency of the EU, the Partnership on Training and Youth and Jint (Flemish National Agency for the YOUTH programme).

Having experienced the success of Bridges for Training (100% of the participants judged the event useful or very useful in the evaluation forms) and led to the follow-up event called Bridges for Recognition
