Youth Worker - the Modern Profession

Aims & objectives

The activity was aimed at developing an active and adequate self-image of the participant as a facilitator in the context of youth work. It was designed to help them see themselves more clearly as individuals who seek to guide others with the means of youth work. The activity was in line with the organization's aim to support the participation of young people in society, and supporting social integration and personal fulfillment.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

The activity was aimed at people in the age range 20-35 from Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Poland.

Training methods used & main activities

The activity was based on a specific stratification of the Creator archetype in post-Jungian archetypal psychology that was tailored especially by us. The participants created intuitively gestalts of clay in small groups, then discussed with us the definitions of each leader type and classified them accordingly. At the end of the activity we directed a role-playing game in which they immersed themselves in a specific situation, embodying the archetype they gave form to and interacting with the others from that point.

Outcomes of the activity

The activity helped the participants to intuitively find the best leader style for themselves, evaluating the image they have about themselves in the light of their gestalt. It also helped them to gain a better understanding of the role of the youth worker. They shared that the activity helped them to understand themselves better and also understand more about their eventual responsibilities as a youth worker and if they would like to be in that role or not.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

As a team member, I was assigned the role of Group Dynamics Facilitator - I led evening reflection circles using among the team members to build rapport, address conflicts, and boost motivation.

I worked on this training for 3 days as a full time trainer.
