Aims & objectives

Training Course, Action 3.1 by name “Youth Photo Games“ was held in period from 1 to 9 of June 2012 in Novi Sad, Serbia.

This training course was about promotion of voluntarism using creative photography as a method for social inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities.

The main goal of our training course “Youth Photo Games“ was to offer to participants new art techniques and learning methods for improving inclusion of excluded groups of youth with psychological problems – mental health problems. Also by promotion youth voluntarism and photo activities, as a result of our TC participants will use those learning methods in everyday work with excluded youth including them in active local community life.

Idea of this training course was to show that there is possibility to solve certain mental health problem caused by stress through application of photography action. This art activity can lead to solution or point out a problem that can be resolved by working on it afterward.

Objectives on training course Youth Photo Games were:

- to promote voluntarism and inclusion as a most significant value working with youth with fewer opportunities – youth with health psychological problems.

- to increase awareness of the values of voluntarism and importance of volunteering as a form of active engagement and as a tool to develop and improve competences for personal, social and professional development.

- to encourage excluded young people with fewer opportunities – youth with mental health problems to play an active role in their communities

- to contribute participants development of creative capabilities and skills in youth work using learning and creative methods (photography techniques)

- promotion of volunteering as a way of active social participation, and a way to acquire knowledge and skills useful for persons' professional development.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

Target group on our training course were people actively involved in work with social excluded youth with psychological problems – caused by stress (youth workers, youth leaders, play workers, NGO activists, school teachers, social workers, volunteers).

The 15 countries were involved in this project: Serbia, Albania, Armenia, Belarus, Germany, Croatia, Italy, Macedonia, Malta, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Spain, Turkey and Ukraine.

Total number of participants was: 30

Training methods used & main activities

Training methods used in this training course were combination of informal learning and non-formal education. The working methods of this training course were name games, energizers, team building games, different educative photo workshops and exercises that are promoting social inclusion, role plays, inputs, individual and small group presentations, discussions in plenary, study visit, NGO fair of partner promoters, best practice projects presentations and creating the concrete project ideas in small working groups.

Activities on our training course were: making photography, photography games, making video from photo materials, drawing with photo chemistry, spending time in nature and contact with nature.

Outcomes of the activity

This training course was about promotion of voluntarism using creative photography as a method for social inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities.

On this training course, we wanted to increase knowledge, learning methods and experiences of participants, which they can use in everyday work for unemployed youth helping them to take self initiative using photo techniques which will lead to their self employment.

After our training course participants became able to recognize importance of the active engagement opportunities within Youth in Action and other youth programs.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

My role in this training course was trainer. For this training course were active two trainers from Serbia. I have worked with Boris Radivojkov expert for photography and educator (http://www.borisradivojkov.com)

My role as a trainer was to introduce participants with Youth in Action Programme and promote the concepts of non-formal education and informal learning involving the participants actively in the prepared program and photo activities.

Through professional cooperation with Association "iNSomnia" project team and my colleague co trainer Boris Radivojkov, this training course was successfully implemented.

I worked on this training for 9 days as a full time trainer.
