Youth Peace Ambassadors Project

in European Youth Centres in Strasbourg and Budapest

2012-2013

Aims & objectives

The Youth Peace Ambassadors is a project of the Council of Europe’s Youth Department, Directorate of Democratic Citizenship and Participation promoting the role of young people in peace-building activities that contribute to living together in dignity and dialogue. The projects is centred on a network of young people from all member states of the Council of Europe who, upon receiving training at the European Youth Centres, will promote and apply the values of the Council of Europe in conflict-affected areas and communities.

The project is the result of a needs assessment done by European youth organisations and builds up on the particular contribution and perspective that youth work and youth policy can bring to peace-building processes in Europe, especially through its preventive and educational nature.
The Youth Ambassadors for Peace project was proposed by the Advisory Council on Youth and endorsed by the Joint Council on Youth of the Council of Europe

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

I have worked in the team composed of trainers from France, Spain, the Netherlands, Greece, Turkey, Romania, and Russia. In the activity there are participants from at least 20 countries in Europe.

Training methods used & main activities

Simulation activities, energizers, debates, buzz groups, individual reflection exercises, case studies, personal inventories, inputs and lectures, small group work, etc

Outcomes of the activity

The network of youth peace ambassadors has been established and will further spread the values of the COE as well as to promote peace in their regions.
The training is a long-term process that will finish by mid 2013.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

My tasks are:
Develop e-learning units and follow participants’ learning in e-learning platform
Develop program modules and contribute to the program flow of each residential seminar.
Deliver training sessions in the residential seminars
Evaluate the educational process with my team
Mentor 6 participants along the education process supporting it.

I worked on this training for 30 days as a full time trainer days as a full time trainer.
