Aims & objectives

The training activity “Increasing quality of youth work: vulnerable youth in focus 2.0” aimed to train, enhance, and improve the skills of youth leaders to support the social inclusion and participation of young people belonging to minorities, and to equip them with practical tools to combat discrimination, racism, xenophobia, and exclusion.

✅ Main Aims of the Training Activity

Raise awareness among youth workers about the social exclusion of minorities based on identity, choices, or beliefs.

Educate youth workers on:

Minority and human rights

Intercultural and interreligious dialogue

Models of social inclusion across Europe

Empower organizations and youth workers to:

Plan and implement inclusive activities

Reach out to and support minority youth

Develop and test non-formal educational tools for minority inclusion.

Target Group of the Activity
The training targeted:

Youth workers, educators, trainers, and volunteers who are actively involved in youth work, especially those:

Working directly with young people from minority backgrounds or in situations of social exclusion.

Interested in improving their skills in non-formal education, intercultural dialogue, and inclusion practices.

Participants were expected to:

Be committed to full participation

Have a working level of English

Engage in preparation, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up phases of the project.

Training methods used & main activities

The training “Increasing quality of youth work: vulnerable youth in focus 2.0” was entirely based on non-formal education methods, in line with Erasmus+ principles and SALTO TOY requirements. The methodology promoted learning by doing, peer learning, self-reflection, and experiential education.

Outcomes of the activity

The training “Increasing quality of youth work: vulnerable youth in focus 2.0” successfully achieved its intended goals through both measurable outputs and qualitative impact:

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

In this training course, I worked as a co-trainer within a two-person facilitation team. I was involved as a full-time trainer throughout the entire activity, from preparation to follow-up. My responsibilities were equally shared with the other trainer, ensuring the training was collaboratively led and delivered.

✅ Key Responsibilities and Contributions

Co-design of the training flow: I collaborated in designing the educational structure, methodology, and learning outcomes of the 8-day program.

Facilitation of sessions: I independently facilitated several workshops, including:

Intercultural and interfaith dialogue

Participant-led activities and feedback

Human rights and minority rights

Toolbox development using NFE methods

Daily reflections & evaluations: I led group reflection sessions and contributed to mid-term and final evaluations to assess learning impact.

Support to participants: I provided ongoing pedagogical and emotional support, ensured active participation, and adapted activities based on group dynamics.

Logistics and coordination support: I assisted the team in adapting the agenda based on timing, participant needs, and context.

Follow-up & dissemination: I supported the coordination team in developing follow-up strategies and gathering evidence of dissemination efforts by participants.

I worked on this training for 4 days as a full time trainer.
