TOY - Trainers Online for Youth
This is a reference for Laura Babaityte
This project consisted of two activities: training course and seminar. It aimed to enhance the capacities of the participating organizations in supporting (sending, coordinating, hosting) international long-term volunteers. With the activities, participants were learning methods that help to follow volunteers' learning process, their emotional well-being and help empower the volunteers for future entrepreneurship ventures. All the participating organizations are working with EVS volunteers, so it is a relevant topic for all of them.
There were 12 countries participating in the project: Poland, the Republic of Macedonia, Italy, Hungary, Estonia, Romania, Germany, Finland, Spain, Turkey, Latvia, and Slovenia. Participants were natives or temporary residents of the participating countries.
"Empathy map", “Appreciative Inquiry”, "Living Library", "World Caffee", Fish Bowl discussion, "Hot Air Balloon" for fears and expectations, Silent discussion, "Count to 20" for concentration and teambuilding, “Hi-Ha-Ho”, “Bombs and shields”, “Cat and Dog” for energizers, study visits, role plays, debates, etc.
After the training course participants left with more knowledge and tools of how to support and empower the long-term volunteer. Participants gained knowledge and skills valuable in the job market that they can transfer to volunteers (like how to pitch their ideas, preparing CVs and representing themselves in the job interviews). Participants also learned more about entrepreneurship, different kinds of it, how to design business plans, where to look for opportunities and support before starting the business and similar things that mentors, youth workers, and coordinators can teach EVS volunteers.
