The exchanged aims were:
1. to increase awareness of how non-formal education methods and approaches can be used to promote cultural diversity and intercultural learning.
2. To create a network of youth social workers who collaborate in solving community challenges especially in the youth field in Dar es Salaam and Hamburg.
3. To provide a platform for youth social workers to develop their professional careers by learning different perspectives, tools and approaches as applied in Tanzania and Germany contexts.
4. To promote global citizenship and diversity through active experience of different cultures, work and lifestyles.
The project group consisted of 16 social workers/youth educators aged from Hamburg and Dar es Salaam. The team also consisted of two trainers from Germany and two from Tansania.
Site visits, Dialogues and Discussion, Brainstorming for innovation and creation, Presentation of work places by partcipants, nature retreat and visit to ecological projects.
The programm included: 3. Presentation–Formal and Non-Formal Education in TZ*, Learning to live together programm Presentation and training in methodology, expert talks and reflections on conflict resolution and diversity in Tansania, Presentation and Discussion – Rights of Children/Work with children and youth, Interfaith Cooperation – Discussion with guests and transfer to won contexts, Reflection and practice about the theme „pedagogics of freedom“ and defintion of conflicts, project planning and impact planningas well as workshop on funding strategies. We used a lot of differnet methods to enable collective learning. We worked with time line methods, group discussions, visual work and design thinking approaches.
We had workshops and talk about colonial history and continuities.
The training activity lead to mulitple projects and connections. Some participants are now planning their own cooperation project, others have- following the exchange programm- applied for interships in Germany/Tansania. Ther is a lively connection between the two groups. The evaluation showed that the exchanged had a deep impact on the perspectives of the participants in relation to the world.
Designing and facilitating the whole programm together with team, organising evalution and feedback, reporting back in Germany.
