TOY - Trainers Online for Youth
This is a reference for Kata Dietrich
The main objective of the Training Course was to support other trainers and NGOs to reduce
their waste during their programs and to share the importance of sustainability in the area of nonformal education. The aim was to explore
ways of extending the learning path of our participants and to discover how to ensure that the newly learnt methods and skills became part of their everyday life.
The training was open for experienced trainers, youth workers, mentors, coaches, members and founders of NGOs who had an interest in sustainability and how to extend the learning process of participants of their own projects. 33 particpants attended the program from 9 different countries: Spain, Estonia, Greece, Portugal, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Italy, Romania and Hungary.
The program was based on techniques and methods of sustainable development - both environmentally and learning-wise. We used a combination of non formal learning methods, including the following:
- creative recycling
- outdoor
- design thinking
- debates/discussions
- experimental learning
Participants of the Training Course developed their personal skills and learned how to design sustainable activities and explored the different options of extending the learning process of their participants. They had the chance to use their new knowledge and skills in practice already during the program, since they organised two different kind of activities: they designed and held workshops for each other and they organised an event for locals in a nearby town as well.
I was a co-trainer, supporting the head trainer, Barbara Földi. I designed and held some parts of the program and mentored one group of participants as their reflection group leader. I was also responsible for the logistics and administrational part of the project.
