TOY - Trainers Online for Youth

- Learn facilitation skills to be able to deliver a full day of workshops at the university;
- Learn and practice debriefing techniques;
- Create interactive moments for participants to meet their new colleagues;
- Develop of cooperative and cohesive classes by fostering teamwork;
- Provide an opportunity to develop fundamental soft skills to improve the adaptation and performance of students in the new academic environment (teamwork, cooperation, time management).
Me (Inês) and Lério Cunha (Mozambican) were the trainers. We trained 26 facilitators so they would be able to deliver the training event to Portuguese and other international students all around the world. Among these 26 participants there were different nationalities, such as Chinese, Portuguese, Mozambican and Emirati people (from Dubai).
For the team building activities we used severeal NFE methods such as brain storming sessions, discussions, simulations, time management boards, etc. All of the activities had a debriefing part based on the Kolb Cycle of the experiential learning.
By the end of the training, facilitators felt more confident conducting the workshops they had to deliver for the students of their university. This outcome is based on the high level of satisfaction observed on the surveys we did at the end of the training.
As training event coordinator I was coordinating the team of the event concerning every detail related to the training. Besides that, I co-designed, planned and delivered the training for trainers activities and workshops during 3 days.
