Aims & objectives

Training for Coordinators of Intercultural Youth Exchange Projects was an international training course for volunteers who wished to enlarge their competencies in order to facilitate international and multicultural groups. The aim of the training was to enable participants to competently run and evaluate an international youth exchange project.

Based on the principles of experiential learning, the course covered in particular the following fields:
- Intercultural Learning,
- Group dynamics,
- Decision taking,
- Conflict Resolution,
- Motivating volunteers,
- Responsibilities of a coordinator, project partner and volunteers,
- Practical information about youth exchange projects (insurance, report etc.),
- Evaluation of exchange projects.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

20 young activists from different organizations and over 10 European countries attended the event.

Training methods used & main activities

The training was based on activating methods like group work, case studies, brainstorming and simulations.

Outcomes of the activity

After the training the participants successfully lead the international voluntary camps within Service Civil International branches and partner organisations.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

I was one of two trainers, responsible for designing and running the programme, as well as writing and compiling the report.

I worked on this training for 6 days as a full time trainer.
