Aims & objectives

AIM:
to develop the competence of professionals working in Ombuds offices and volunteers active in advocacy on human rights issues and to integrate and develop practices of human rights education with children in various contexts and using Compasito as a starting point.
OBJECTIVES:
 To introduce COMPASITO (the manual on human rights education with children) as a tool for working on human rights education with children
 To develop the participants’ knowledge and competence in key concepts of human rights education with children
 To familiarize the participants with the approaches and activities of COMPASITO and how to best use it and adapt it to different contexts and realities
 To discuss and develop the essential competencies, skills and attitudes needed for people working with children
 To enable participants to develop activities and programmes for future work on human rights education with children, at local and national level;
 To prepare activities for disseminating COMPASITO at local and national level;
 To contribute to the development of a pan-European network of professionals working with children on human rights issues.

Diverse group from the European countries, countries members of the Council of Europe.

Training methods used & main activities

Sharing good practices, reflection, discussions, inputs, plenary sessions, thematic working groups and workshops on different approaches to human rights education with children.
COMPASITO – a manual on human rights education with children.

Outcomes of the activity

- participants got familiar with the concept and practice of non-formal education and human rights education.
- understanding of lobbying for human rights education with children and practised various promotional techniques.
- programme well balanced in terms of knowledge and skills development
- COMPASITO activities were a significant part of the programme
- an expert in human rights education with children available during the course would be benefitial
- Russian-speaking participants set up a cooperation network immediately following the course
- building of a pan-European network of professionals was not achieved highly

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

senior trainer and aourse director
- to prepare and run working groups and workshops based on the methodologies of Compasito
- to facilitate the plenary sessions and working groups
- to contribute to the evaluation of the course
-to act as course coordinator and ensure the educational quality of the programme.

I worked on this training for 11 days as a full time trainer.
