Training course for beggining youth leaders

Aims & objectives

The aim of the project was to train young volunteers and activists from Naturefriends member organisations in youth work – how to organise youth groups activities.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

Group of 16 participants from Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Romania and Hungary.
Team consist of two senior trainers, Lucie Frisova (CZ) and Rene Solle (GE) and a support team member and translator Franz Sommerfeld (GE). We hosted guest trainers for the topics of outdoor education (local NFJD group representants) and first aid simulations (Barbara Simanovska, CZ).

Training methods used & main activities

The programme consisted of basics for the work with groups, group dynamics and pedagogic, conflict management, organisation of activities, funding possibilities, first aid, the rights and duties of a youth leader and intercultural learning. All done in participative way, through a lot of exercises and simulations.

Outcomes of the activity

After course the leaders should be more confident to organise an event, summer camp, trip or any other national or international activity on their own or become a team member of such a project team.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

Trainer – responsible for preparation, running and report of the training course. Bilingual training – responsible for the English programme blocks and handouts.
Complex training for youth leaders and youth workers to entry international youth work: Project management, programme design, working with group, special topics such as first aid, outdoor education, intercultural education etc.
