Aims & objectives

The objectives of the project, aimed at training youth workers, are enlisted below;
1. To influence youth workers to encourage young people to appreciate the meaning of culture and tolerance;
2. To make youth workers reflect on the importance of cultural tolerance and its relevance among young people;
3. To demonstrate to youth workers the results of intolerance of each other’s culture;
4. To give youth workers the competence to react to and manage cultural intolerance;
5. To train youth workers on how cultural tolerance could be fostered through non-formal education;
6. To give youth workers the competence to help in the integration of immigrants.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

Target group were youth workers who had:
- Active role in the partner organizations (or closely affiliated) in the field of youth work;
- Good command of English, both in speaking and writing;
- Availability for the whole duration of the activity;
- Willingness to actively participate and to take part in the dissemination and follow-up;
- Potential to be positively impacted by the activity;
- Actively involved in promoting culture, tolerance and have in their own way helped immigrants to integrate in society.
The participants were from Turkey, Hungary, Finland, Italy, Macedonia, Romania and Denmark.
One person in the group was blind.

Training methods used & main activities

A wide range of training tools were used during 10 days of activity: lectures, debates, quizes, disputes, group-work (small, medium, big groups, etc), informal education during intercultural events, Open Space Technology, World Cafe, role-playing games (e.g. Albatross from Compass) and Case-studies.
Experienced Co-trainer Bruno Pizzini delivered the workshop called Cultural Conflict, a role game based on 2 cultures with their own rules and roles.

Outcomes of the activity

The youth were empowered with clear understanding of tolerance and their ability to motivate and empower local youth groups.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the team

I provided a full-range 10-days training course as lead-trainer. I provided the Development of training program, the Impplementation, consulting the Co-trainers, preparation of training materials, selection of training methods, tracking the logistical issues.
Experienced Co-trainer Bruno Pizzini delivered the workshop called Cultural Conflict, a role game based on 2 cultures with their own rules and roles.

I worked on this training for 10 days as a full time trainer.
