The TECA – Theater Enlighten Cultural Awareness project aimed to use theatre as a creative educational tool to promote cultural awareness, social inclusion, and intercultural dialogue among young people and youth workers. The project focused particularly on supporting migrant youth in expressing their identities, experiences, and cultural backgrounds through artistic and theatrical methods.
Another key objective was to equip youth workers and trainers with innovative theatre-based methodologies that can be used in non-formal education to support integration, communication, and participation. Through international collaboration and creative workshops, the project aimed to strengthen participants’ self-expression, storytelling abilities, and intercultural understanding.
The project also sought to encourage active citizenship and community engagement, enabling participants to address social and cultural issues through theatre and creative performance while fostering empathy and collaboration between people from different cultural backgrounds.
The TECA – Theater Enlighten Cultural Awareness project was implemented through an international partnership of organisations from Germany, Turkey, Luxembourg, and Belgium. The project brought together youth workers, trainers, theatre practitioners, and participants from these countries to collaborate in a series of transnational training activities and creative workshops.
The TECA – Theater Enlighten Cultural Awareness project applied non-formal and experiential learning methods based on theatre, creative writing, and participatory group work. The training included theatre exercises, improvisation, role-play, body language activities, and storytelling, enabling participants to explore themes of culture, identity, and migration through artistic expression.

Participants also engaged in creative writing workshops, where they developed multilingual scripts and narratives reflecting their personal experiences and cultural backgrounds. These activities encouraged collaboration and helped participants transform their stories into short theatrical performances.
The activities of the TECA – Theater Enlighten Cultural Awareness project resulted in significant learning and personal development for the participants. Through theatre-based training and creative workshops, participants strengthened their self-confidence, communication skills, and ability to express personal and cultural experiences through storytelling and performance.

Participants also developed a deeper understanding of cultural diversity, multilingual communication, and the role of language in identity and social inclusion. Working in multicultural groups allowed them to exchange perspectives and recognize common experiences across different cultural backgrounds.
Within the TECA – Theater Enlighten Cultural Awareness project, I contributed as a trainer and theatre pedagogue representing Alrahallah Theater Berlin, the coordinating organisation of the project. My role included designing and facilitating theatre-based training activities focused on language, self-expression, and intercultural communication.
I led workshops that explored the relationship between language, identity, and cultural diversity, using creative methods such as improvisation, storytelling, body expression, and collaborative theatre creation. These activities supported participants in developing confidence, communication skills, and the ability to express their experiences through performance.
