Aims & objectives

- Understanding the causes of extremism and where it develops.
- Mapping the extremism phenomena in Europe and finding connection between them.
- Finding out specific relation of extremism and economical crisis.
- Finding and analyzing the main actors of generation of extremism and the ones that can prevent it.
- Analyzing the European values and how they can be used in contrasting the extremism phenomena.
- Overview the European programs and creation of new projects related to the topic.

Target group & international/intercultural composition of the group & team

Young people involved in the project were coming from Armenia, Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Italy, Turkey, Greece, Bulgaria and Croatia.

Training methods used & main activities

All the planned activities in the seminar were based on non-formal education methodology. We have used team building activities, role plays, simulations, discussions, meeting with guest speakers, team works, etc.

Outcomes of the activity

“The extreme side of Europe” project gathered 30 young leaders, youth workers, activists from 5 programme and 5 partner countries in Milano Province, Italy to discuss and analyze the issue of extremists and extreme movements which become more and more challenging for European continent. Taking into account the recent developments in Europe, especially the event in Paris, participants had an opportunity to share their experience and practice in combating extremism phenomena in Europe which carries elements of xenophobia, violence, nationalism, barrier, social conflict, discrimination, propaganda etc.
