The Art of Ethics in Youth Work 2 built on the first edition of the training and aimed to strengthen youth workers’ capacity to recognise, analyse and respond to ethical challenges in everyday youth work.
The training focused on professional boundaries, responsibility, power relations, ethical decision-making and organisational practices. Participants reflected on real dilemmas from their work, exchanged approaches across different national contexts and developed practical responses they could apply in their organisations.
The target group consisted of experienced youth workers and representatives of youth organisations from different European countries.
Participants came from: The Republic of North Macedonia, Italy, Armenia, Albania, France, Croatia
The international composition supported peer learning and comparison of different approaches to ethical challenges in youth work.
The training was based on non-formal education and experiential learning. Methods included group work, case studies, simulations, role plays, debate and deliberation, peer learning, reflection and practical analysis of ethical dilemmas.
Participants worked with real situations from youth work and explored different possible responses, especially in cases where there was no single correct solution.
Participants strengthened their ability to identify and address ethical challenges, reflect on professional boundaries and responsibilities, and apply ethical principles more consciously in their everyday youth work.
The training also further developed the methodology and curriculum created during the first Art of Ethics in Youth Work training.
Four organisations developed their codes of conduct.
I worked as a full-time trainer and contributed to programme design, preparation of methods and materials, facilitation of sessions, reflection and evaluation.
As one of the authors of the original curriculum, I also helped adapt and further develop the programme for the second edition. I facilitated sessions on ethical decision-making, professional boundaries, communication and practical responses to ethical dilemmas.
